DEATH NOTICES
BINNING, CAITLIN WRIGHT (Age 37) CAITLIN WRIGHT BINNING, social
worker and longtime advocate for the rights and care of people with mental
illnesses, died July 25, 2003. She had cancer. She was raised in Richmond,
Virginia where she attained a Masters Degree in social work. Her career in
social work began with service to the Daily Planet and two consumer
service boards. She worked for NAMI-VA, the National Alliance for the
Mentally III-Virginia Chapter, as deputy director promoting social justice
for people with serious mental illness. Before her illness, she worked
briefly in Washing ton D.C. as deputy director for the National Low Income
Housing Coalition. Survivors include her husband, Timothy Binning of
Annandale, VA; her mother, Maureen Larkin Wright of Amelia, VA; brother,
Sean Wright and six half-brothers and sisters. Services will be held
Saturday, August 2, at 1 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church, 4444
Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks
that donations be made to NAMI-VA Advocacy Fund, P.O. Box 1903, Richmond,
VA, 23218.
